EthosCentering quality, purpose, and prominence.
Terrace is a design studio for software. We center quality, purpose, and prominence—not as slogans, but as constraints. Quality is care made visible: typography, motion, and structure that hold up under daily use. Purpose is discipline: every flow should connect to a real customer need. Prominence is the outcome when those commitments stack into something people choose, recommend, and remember.
The craft of building products is changing. Design and code are becoming two ways of expressing the same intent, and new tools—from agent workflows to design-native builders—are compressing the distance between idea and interface. Most organizations still run on the old split: specs cross a wall, context gets lost, and velocity becomes an excuse for inconsistency.
The people who bridge that gap—who combine product sense, visual taste, and technical depth—are rare. Many are already founders. Terrace exists to bring design engineering to startups that are still finding their shape: teams with conviction and momentum, but without a dedicated person who can own the product surface end to end.
We work with founders and founding teams as an embedded partner. That means translating business and customer needs into organized systems and interfaces, then implementing them in the codebase so decisions survive contact with reality. We favor clarity over novelty, coherence over one-off polish, and work that compounds instead of accumulating debt.
Our bet is that the designer and the frontend engineer are converging into one role. Startups that act on that early can move quickly without surrendering craft. Terrace is how we offer that capability: fewer handoffs, tighter feedback loops, and software that feels like it came from a single, attentive mind.
